The scenario created for this task is as
follows:
You are a group of consultants tasked with analysing and
providing recommendations to a cross-functional team that will
design their organisation’s new sustainability strategy. The team
has five members and includes representatives from marketing,
information technology, human resource, customer service, and
accounting, all of whom will move to the same location at
headquarters for three months. The team comprises experienced
mid-level and senior-level employees, and one entry-level employee
new to the organisation. None of the team members have previously
worked together.
Considering what you know about group processes, what
challenges to group development might the team encounter? What
actions would you recommend to help build group
effectiveness?
Instructions:
1. Introduction:
State the topic of the report, provide some background
information or context, summarise the identified challenges and
your recommendations, and how you have structured the
report.
2. Critical analysis of group
processes:
Identify and discuss three challenges affecting group
development with respect to the team scenario outlined in the
Assignment Task. Use relevant Organization Behaviour academic
literature (i.e., Organization Behaviour theory &/or concepts
published in peer-reviewed and scholarly journal articles, etc.) in
addressing this section. Explain and clarify using concrete
examples.
3. Recommendations how to address the identified
challenges:
Based on your analysis in Section 2, provide three
recommendations. Recommendations must be both relevant and
feasible. Provide the concrete steps required to address each
challenge. Use relevant Organization Behaviour academic literature
(i.e., Organization Behaviour theory &/or research published in
peer-reviewed and scholarly journal articles, etc.) in addressing
this section.
4. Conclusion: Summarise the key points featured in your
analysis and your recommendations.
