4) Kingston post office has an average of 100 people per hour entering (with exponentially distributed interarrival times). They wait in a single line to approach the next available window. Each window can serve an average of 45 people per hour (also exponentially distributed). It costs $20 per hour to keep each window open, and $0.10 per minute for each person waiting in line. (a) How many windows should the postmaster keep open, assuming they want to reduce costs? (b) If the government demands that no more than 5% of people will spend more than 5 minutes in line, how many windows should now be kept open? How much more does this cost?
