Strategic Management Research Report Criteria and Checklist (30% of grade) Overview: The final paper will present a decision-making issue that a manager of your chosen company may face. You can select from the following list of issues or create your own scenario, approved by the instructor: 1. Company expanding its operations internationally. 2. Layoff or termination of employees. 3. Expanding into another domestic market. 4. Opening a new product line 5. Pursuing a new vision for the company 6. Opening a new location As part of your paper, analyze the decision-making issue you chose using this company as a context and address the following elements: • Describe the issue as it relates to that company. Use specifics to provide the issue with a context. • Discuss the factors involved when making a decision. • Which decision making model would be the most appropriate? • Which decision making style would be a good fit for a given situation? • What are some mental shortcuts pitfalls to avoid? • Present a plan to address the issue. Checklist for both Options: • Use APA style formatting only • Length: 57 pages of text (this excludes abstract, tables, figures, charts, cover page, references, etc.) • Abstract: no more than 200 words (serve as an “executive summary” – a short recap) • Page numbering required (using “running head” APA style formatting) • Deadline : due at the end of Module 7. Your Instructor will post the day your report is due. Late submissions will incur a point reduction at the discretion of your Instructor. No reports will be accepted beyond the last day of the term. No exceptions. • Catchy title on cover page (do not forget to use a strong verb) • Start with an introductory paragraph (to include a “purpose statement” so we know, up front, what you plan to discuss) • Include at least (3) main points to substantiate this purpose in your body copy • End with a short, clear and concise conclusion paragraph • This is NOT an opinion paper
