As you've seen in the video and this week's course materials, integrating a life course approach into the US health care system has vast potential to improve health across generations and reduce health inequities. One barrier to this shift in care is that the US health system is largely focused on acute care (i.e.,. the short-term and often urgent treatment of an injury or illness) rather than primary prevention (i.e., care focused on preventing disease or illness). Why do you think this is the case and what is one way to shift this focus? You could consider approaches that address the issue via public health policies, health systems and providers, communities, or individual behaviors.
