= = The figure below shows a ball of mass m = 0.2 kg 1.5 m and attached to one end of a rod of length L negligible mass which is free to rotate around a pivot through the other end. The ball is released from rest when the rod is horizontal as shown. At the bottom of its swing, the ball collides with a block of mass M 0.3 kg which is at rest on a frictionless table. The collision is completely inelastic (the ball and block stick together). After the collision, the ball/block combination will continue to rotate around the pivot at the end of the rod.
