Ask ME if you have a question. Make sure you put your name on this
and upload spreadsheet to BlackBoard. You may use Excel and/or
MegaStats for any questions. The assignment is open book, open
notebook. Except for terminating decimals and dollar amounts, all
answers should be rounded to four (4) decimal places. Dollar
amounts may be rounded to pennies (cents). You may assume normality
if n ≥ 100. You must show all your work and/or output. I need to be
able to see your formulas and/or output for you to earn credit.
Each question is 3 points each. Due Monday, May 02, NOON, 12:00 PM.
1) Construct a confidence interval for the mean of a survey of
annual earnings of Gateway students, using the following data: 𝑋̅=
$54,000, s=$1,400. Size of the survey (n) is 50 students. a) Use
the .98 confidence level. b) Change the confidence level to .95 and
construct a confidence interval. c) Use the .95 confidence level
and increase the “n” to 576 to find the confidence interval. 2) The
Florida Real Estate board claims that 62% of those families who
plan to purchase a vacation residence in Florida want a
condominium. A random sample of 36 families who planned to buy a
vacation residence revealed that 22 families want a condominium.
Devise a Confidence Intervals for the true population parameter π:
a) using the .99 confidence level. b) Change the confidence level
to .95 and construct a confidence interval. c) Use the .95
confidence level and increase the “n” to 196 to find the confidence
interval. d) Are you confident the Florida Real Estate Board is
correct, using n = 36? Explain why or why not. 3) A survey of 225
gas stations in CT revealed the following data of the price per
gallon of regular gasoline. Mean= $2.82, s= .12. Construct a
confidence interval using:(round to nearest “tenth” of a cent i.e.
$3.015): a) .85 level of confidence. b) .96 level of confidence. c)
.99 level of confidence, but decrease the “n” to 25. 4) Out of
72,000 (N) households, 244 (n) were surveyed. Of those surveyed, 64
reported that they had received unemployment benefits. a) Would
this require using the Finite Population Correction Factor? Explain
why or why not? b) Regardless of your answer above, calculate the
FPCF. c) Calculate a Confidence interval for the proportion of
unemployment beneficiaries at the 10% significance level using the
FPCF. d) Calculate a Confidence interval for the proportion of
unemployment beneficiaries at the 2% significance level using the
FPCF. Business Stats Optional Ch-8 H
