A block of mass 4.00 kg on a frictionless table is connected to
a spring that is initially uncompressed, at its equilibrium length
of 20.0 cm, and has a spring constant 43.0 N/m. The block is pushed
to the left by 5.00 cm, compressing the spring, and is held at rest
for a moment. Then the block is released and it moves to the right
through equilibrium and beyond. Someone takes measurements of the
block when it has moved to a position 2.00 cm to the right of
equilibrium.
Find: a) The potential energy of the system while the block was
at rest for a moment. __________________
b) The speed of the block as it passes through equilibrium.

c) The total mechanical energy when the block passes through
equilibrium. __________________
d) The speed of the block as it passes through 2.00 cm right of
equilibrium. __________________
e) The total mechanical energy when it passes through 2.00 cm
right of equilibrium. __________________
f) The period of the spring’s motion __________________
g) The frequency of the spring’s motion __________________
h) Write an equation of the form x = A sin (ωt) to describe the
spring’s motion. t) to describe the spring’s motion. _
