K. R., a 48-year-old female client, is admitted to the emergency
department (ED) after having a seizure while attending church. You
are the admitting nurse in the ED. The client has a history of a
seizure disorder. She is arousable but lethargic.
What questions will you ask the client or the family upon
arrival?
What initial assessments will you make?
Give examples of medications or foods that could interfere with
K. R.'s prescribed seizure medications - phenytoin (Dilantin) and
phenobarbital (Luminal).
