TC Bank has four branches in a certain locality with the
following inputs and outputs:
Input 1 = teller hours (100s)
Input 2 = space (100s of square feet)
Input 3 = expenses ($1,000s)
Output 1 = deposits, withdrawals, and checks processed
(1,000s)
Output 2 = loan applications
Output 3 = new accounts (100s) The actual input and output
values for each school are:
a) Develop a DEA linear programming model that can be used to
evaluate the performance of Bank C only. State your model in
algebraic form by clearly defining your decision variables and by
giving quantitative expressions for the constraints and the
objective function in terms of the data and decisions.
b) Use the Excel Solver to solve the model. What is the optimal
solution and the value of the objective function? Note: Do not
submit a spreadsheet.
c) Is Bank C efficient or inefficient? Discuss.
d) Where does the composite bank have more output than
Bank C and by how much?
e) How much less of each input resource does the composite
bank require when compared to Bank C?
f) What other banks should be studied to find suggested ways for
Bank C to improve its efficiency?
