Describe the quantitative connections between the dependent and
independent variables. You may use correlations or scatter plots to
illustrate the connections. Do these results show support to your
expectations in part b above? (5 points)
Run a regression of the dependent variables on two versions of
the models. These models should differ by at least one independent
variable. The Excel regression result should be attached as an
appendix while the regression result should be reported in a table
in the report. The table report should be in the following format
(25 points):
Estimation of “XXXXXX “ – dependent variable
Model 1:
Variable Parameter Estimate t-value p-value
Var 1 XXXXXXX XXXX XXXX
Var 2 XXXXXX XXX XXXX
R square XXXX
Adj R square XXXX
Model 2:
Var 1 XXXXXXX XXXX XXXX
Var 2 XXXXXX XXX XXXX
Var3 XXXXXXX XXXX XXXX
R square XXXX
Adj R square XXXX
Explain which of the two models is better? You need to use
summary statistics to support your conclusion. (5 points)
Is the model significant overall? Use F-stat and p-value of the
F-test to support your answer. (5 points)
Which independent variables are significant statistically?
Support your conclusion by using statistics from tables in part f
and conducting formal tests. (5 points)
Are the regression results concerning parameter estimates
consistent with your prior expectations? (5 points)
Summary and explain whether your model needs any improvement?
How can you improve your model? (10 points)
Fully document the data and data sources (5 points)
Overall report – needs to look professional, organized clearly,
and be free of grammar errors, and (5 points)
Your final report (in MS Word) should constitute all of the
component in section 2, with each step explained carefully and
fully to receive full credit.
