The measured extreme fibre strains at mid span of a simply
supported beam, loaded with
uniformly distributed load (Figure 3a), are: - 5000*10-6 at A and +
5000*10-6 at B.
Determine:
(a) the bending moment on the mid-span section when the beam is
made of elastic-perfectly
plastic stress-strain curve as shown in Figure 4b.
(b) the uniformly distributed load ω when the beam section at mid
span becomes fully
plastic.
