2. Carry out a hand-calculations, and analyse using
KISSsoft, for the gear configurations given
Rating Inputs Torque 70 Nm, Speed 4000 rpm, Life 20000
h, Application factor Ka 1.25 .
Geometry data for a spur gear pair Z1 20, Z2 41,
module 3 mm, Pressure angle α 20°, Facewidth, 10
mm Profile shifts x1; x2 0; 0
Materials and lubrication as default. Calculations according to
ISO 6336 method B.
a) For the configuration as above, calculate centre distance,
pitch diameters, tip diameters, clearance, and overall dimension
(compare and critically analyse your hand calculated results with
those from KISSsoft);
b) Using KISSsoft calculate maximum transmittable Power at 4000
rpm for a life of 20000 h;
c) Using KISSsoft calculate the maximum service life at 70Nm and
4000 rpm;
d) Apply a profile shift coefficient for maximum flank safety
and calculate the working centre distance, working pitch diameters,
tip diameters, clearance and overall dimension (critically compare
hand calculations and KISSsoft where possible)
e) For the optimized geometry calculate the maximum
transmittable torque at 4000 rpm and for 20,000h life and compare
results with the previous ones. Compare and analyse the results
