Reading Response: What is it? A reading response essay culminates in a polished essay that is at least 1-pape long. The maximum length of the response is 2-pages. What am I supposed to write about? A reading response is a critical refloction basod on the novel Parable of the Sower that should give readers a complete understanding of what you think and why You will develop your own topics for each reading response. However, some topics or questions to answer include: What interested you or stood cury Did you notice any patters? Did you identify any themes? Did something rique your curiosity or raise questions? Is the setting significant to the story? Is there symbolism? Use your annotations to help you write the response Your reading response should contain a thesis statement. Your thesis would make an argument and take a stand.
What should the response include? Textual evidence and support that will strengthen and illustrate your arytment You must be specific. Do not make an assertion or observation and not use the text to back up your claims, Properly cited quotations. This goes hand in hand with using textual evidence. Be sure that your quotations relate to your argument. Cited sources although this is not a research paper and you should not have to do outside research for response papers, you should cite the novel. For example, (Butler 95). You can include the novel's Bibliographic information as a footnote or endnote. However, if you use other sources, you must write a Works Cited page An interesting and original title Critical analysis, not summarization
