Rather than just looking at the impact of type of music on grades I may hypothesize that the type of music that you listen to during the exam has different effects for males and for females. So specifically, I hypothesize that for males listening to country music while taking exams improves performance but for females listening to classical music while taking an exam improves performance.
Also based on the last question... My hypothesis is that the impact of music on test performance changes based on gender. Am I hypothesizing a main effect or an interaction?
