Superheated steam, initially at a pressure of 10bar and a temperature of 250oC, expands
polytropically in the closed cylinder of an engine, the relationship between pressure and volume during the process being given by the polytropic law pv1.25 = constant. At the end of the expansion process the steam pressure is 2bar and the steam is wet. Determine the specific volume of the steam.
ii) The steam is further expanded to a pressure of 1 bar at which condition its specific volume is 1.469 m3/kg. Find the dryness fraction at this condition.
iii) A final stage of expansion reduces the pressure of the steam to 0.32 bar and its dryness fraction is then 0.743. Find the change of specific internal energy from the initial condition of 10 bar and 250oC
