A deep well has been drilled on a large production site to provide water to to domestic use in the camp. The pump is required to deliver an average of 80 m3/day into a storage tank which distributes the water to various points of use. To provide the flow required to various camp locations, the pressure in the tank is maintained at 400 kPa(g). The average water temperature is 10°C. The pipe is 1 inch Schedule 40 pipe and has a total length of 325 m including the vertical and horizonal runs of pipe. Assume e 5.32 x 10-5 m. What power must be added to the system by the pump? Ignore the loss due to the elbow but include the pipe friction losses in your calculations. Note that the well is vented.
