A helicopter shaft with a diameter of 0.5 inch and length of 1.5 feet is used. It it is designed to power a propeller at 4000 revolutions/minute with 50 Horsepower (1 HP=550ft-lb/s). Is 301 stainless steel with G=10000 ksi strong enough to keep a factor of safety of 2.0 if the shear yield is 80 ksi? What is the angular deflection of the shaft in degrees?
