A cable is attached to one end of a spring of stiffness k=500 N/m with the other end of the spring fixed to ground. The cable then wraps tightly around a pulley of mass moment of inertia about its centre of mass I = 0.1 kg.m2 such that there is no slip between the two. The system is initially at rest with the spring at its rest length (i.e., unstretched) when a force F-300 N is applied to the cable as shown. Once the end of the cable has been pulled a distance of x=0.5 m, what is the corresponding angular velocity of the pulley? The pulley may be considered to be mounted on a frictionless bearing.
