3. A solid round drive shaft in a wind turbine is designed to transmit 2 MW at 1 rev/min. The material from which the shaft is made is to have a shear stress of no more than 25MPa. In addition to avoid damage to the control gear used to change the angle of pitch of the blades, the shaft must not twist by more than 0.05°.
