PRANDTL WING NNASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center engineers are working on an increasingly complex aircraft called the Preliminary Research Aerodynamic Design to Lower Drag, or Prandtl-D. The aircraft features a new method for determining the shape of the wing with a twist that could lead to significant drag reduction. This design also introduces a novel way to handle adverse yaw that a typical wing platform has. The initial idea of this wing platform concept originated from the bell-shaped lift distribution that Ludwig Prandtl proposed back in the early day of flight. Prandtl also proposed the famous elliptical lift distribution that famous aircraft such as Spitfire used. For this week's challenge, you and your peers will look into the Prandtl wing platform concept and understand how the aerodynamics of this wing works. Then, identify its pros and cons and identify at least three design applications that this Prandtl wing would be suitable for?
