Water is delivered to a pressurized tank that is located at higher elevation from a reservoir storage by using a piping system shown in Figure 2. Water is drawn from pressurize tank with gage pressure P2 at the flow rate of Q m/s, and the level of water in the pressurized tank is to be maintained at 2 m. Propose a suitable piping design, and the position of the pump. The pump (together with platform) can only be installed on a flat, horizontal terrain, and required at least 5m of space. The aim of your design is to deliver the desired flow rate while minimize the cost to as low as possible. You are also required to check and prevent any cavitation from happening. The type and cost of the components available are given in Appendices. Clearly state all your assumptions (such as temperature of the water). You have to propose two set of designs, and justify which set is better choice. an 103 Sudden nie Sharp edge Figure 2: Pipe system Please state the value of at the beginning of your answer: Flow rate Q-0.350.001"(last two digit of your student ID) i.c.ID - MED107948 Q-0.35 +0.001"(48) = 0.398 m's Pressure P.- 20.000 PM Cost of pump is estimated at the power output of the pump (in W) i.e. power output is 300 kW, the price is RM300,000
