3. a) Consider a 2-branch transmit diversity scheme with i.i.d. Rayleigh fading on each branch where if all the power is transmitted over each branch, the average received SNR is 15 dB. Compare the outage probability under the Alamouti scheme (channel unknown at the transmitter) with that of MRC combining assuming perfect knowledge of the channel at the transmitter for a threshold value yo = 10dB. (5 marks) b) Find the outage probability for a 2-branch receiver selection combining (SC) where each branch is i.i.d. Rayleigh fading with y = 15 dB for a threshold value yo = 10 dB. Compare this result with the outage probabilities for transmit diversity under both the Alamouti and MRC techniques obtained in part (a). (4 marks)
