(b) Design a solar system to deliver 3700 kWh/yr if a single-axis tracker is used. Daily insolation for a 1-axis tracker is 8.0 kWh/day, and assume a 78% dc-to-ac efficiency. The energy delivered per kW (dc, STC) is 2200 kWh/yr. The area of collectors at the assumed efficiency of 14.5%. You may refer to Figure Q2 to find the area requirements. 20 16 Module efficiency 6% 12 AREA REQUIRED (m per thousand kWh/yr) 3- 10% 12% 14% + 0 3 4 5 6 9 INSOLATION (kWh/m2-day) Figure Q2: A graph showing the area required with module efficiency as a parameter. i. Calculate module rated power and area needed (6 Marks) ii. Compare how much lesser area is required (in percentage) for a single-axis system as compared with the answer calculated in Question 2(a) (2 Marks) 4 iii. Explain two (2) major components that need to be considered when making a comparison between a tracking array and non-tracking array, in terms of cost. (2 Marks)
