Question 2a EC/DEC 2018/CEW541/503 a) Perunding Azizi has been appointed by Perak Hydro to conduct a Feasibility Study on the development of Mini Hydro Electric Project at Sungai Geruntom Catchment area. This project used frun-of-river' concept where the weir will be provided to store the discharge from Sungai Geruntom and then will be diverted to the system via a penstock using gravity flow. Based on the requirement set up by the Department of Environment (DOE), the required discharge to be diverted from the Sungai Geruntom for the hydro- electric project is 95%. Determine the environmental discharge required at Sungai Geruntom using Mid-Section Method. Table Q2(a) shows the collected data during a stream gauging operation at Sungai Geruntom during a dry season.
