Working example 10.2: Design a strip footing A 300 mm thick concrete wall carries a service dead load of 140 kN/m and a service live load of 225 kN/m. The allowable soil pressure is 240 kPa at the level of the bottom of the footing which is 1500 mm below the ground surface. Design a strip footing using fc' = 20 MPa and fy = 400 MPa. The density of the soil is 2040 kg/m3.
