܀ܬ Question 2 (20 points): A frame in a concrete residential building is subjected to dead, live, and earthquake loads. Elastic first order analysis is carried on using service loads and El requirement by ACI. Table 1 summarizes each column's loads. First story drift as a result of earthquake is 18 mm. fc-28 MPa and fy=420 MPa R factor is already implemented. 1-) Check if first story is braced or not 2-) Check if column A3 is slender or not. Use alignment chart given in the appendix 3-) Assume column A3 to be unbraced and slender. Design it first for gravity loads using load combination 53.16. Toen design it for gravity + EQ using load combination 5.3.le. These load combinations are listed in the appendix. Use (Eb)er from equation 6.6.4.4.4 (b) from appendix. 500 mm 200 mm 200 mm 40 200 mm Columns section Beams section
