Ojbective:
Design solutions to third tunnel barrel for the Heroes Tunnel,
Route 15, Wilbur Cross Parkway, Hamden/New Haven.
The third barrel has been considered by CTDOT and by
constructing a third barrel, elevated, the middle existing barrel
can be utilized for maintenance and potentially, a multi use trail
for bikes and pedestrians to connect Hamden and New Haven.
Solutions to include horizontal and vertical geometry for new
relocated off ramp, new on ramp and new highway section into the
proposed third tunnel barrel.
Horizontal layout has been provided for the third barrel,
calculations for the geometry are needed for an elevated section of
the barrel above the existing barrels as depicted on provided
plans.
