Question - Concrete Mix Design - (25 marks = 100%) a) Design a concrete mix for the reinforced concrete elements of a Housing project using the given information below. Make use of the following tables 2.6, 2.7, 2.22, and 2.8. b) Determine the mass (kg) of cement, sand and stone required to cast 5 reinforced concrete beams of dimensions 230mm x 350mm x 5000mm as well as a reinforced concrete slab of dimensions 5000mm x 5000mm x 200mm. Consider a 5% waste factor. GIVEN INFORMATION a) Characteristic strength: 30 MPa c) Hand compacted. d) Slump: 100 mm e) Stone: Size 19mm, RD:=2.72, CBD=1225kg/m2 g) Sand: Type: beach sand, RD sana=2.65, CBD=950 kg/m² i) Cement: j) Type: CEM strength class 32.5, RD=3.15
