A Monte Carlo procedure is used to calculate the binding energy B of a number of nuclei consisting of 197 nucleons (i.e. protons and neutrons). In the table B (in MeV) is shown for different values of the atomic number (i.e. the number of protons) Z. Fit a quadratic polynomial to the data and utilise it in order to identify the most stable isotope with mass number A = 197. z 74 76 78 80 82 84 B 1536 1543 1546 1545 1541 | 1532
