currently taking the following meds aspirin 181 mg/day,
atorvastatin (Lipitor) 10 mg / day, fluticasone (Flovent) 44 mcg 2
puffs/day, albuterol (Proventil HFA) 2 pulls every 4-6 hours as
needed, and an insulin regimen (doses adjusted based on his home
glucose readings) consisting of basal insulin degludec (Tresiba)
with meal - time insulin lispro (Humalog). They present with
complaints of a sore mouth. On examination, the nurse notices white
patches in the patient's mouth What is the most likely explanation
for these findings?
