Scenario 2 Frank is a 67-year-old man who normally requires light assistance with showers and dressing. He is a talkative and active resident. He is independent in his transfers and ambulation. Today when you enter his room, he is still in bed, which is unusual for him. His face appears to droop on one side. When you help him out of bed, you notice that his left side is weak. He needs a lot of assistance to transfer into a wheelchair. When you ask Frank if he is feeling well today, he seems confused and doesn't answer. 1. What do you think Frank may be experiencing? 2. Which of Frank's specific symptoms support your thoughts? 3. What other signs and symptoms might you see with this medical condition? 4. What do you think might happen to Frank if you were not familiar with the signs and symptoms of different medical conditions and your role in helping him as a nursing assistant?
