(9 points) A particular brand of diet margarine was analyzed to determine the level of polyunsaturated fatty acid (in percent). Assume the level to be normally-distributed. A sample of six packages resulted in the following data: 16.8, 17.2, 17.4, 16.9, 16.5, 17.1 (note: roundoff error can be severe; maintain several decimal places). a) Test the hypothesis that the mean share of polyunsaturated fatty acid is 17%, using a =0.01. State the null and alternate hypotheses, identify the rejection and fail-to-reject (FTR) regions (as inequalities, on a graph, or both), compute the test statistic, report the conclusion of the test, and interpret the conclusion in plain English. (5 points) b) Find the p-value for the test in part (a). (2 points) c) Find a 99% two-sided confidence interval on the mean Jl. Provide a practical interpretation of this interval. (2 points)
