Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) with Google
Spreadsheet
Objectives:
Learn different tools to explore data sets both
quantitative and qualitative and to summarize their main
characteristics with visual methods.
Learn some basic functions in Google
Spreadsheet
Tasks:
Quantitative Data
There are two samples provided. Your goal is to explore
these two quantitative data sets by providing the following
features:
Gain maximum insight into the data set and its
underlying structure
Provide mean, variance, standard deviance for and 5
number summary
Identify outliers
Provide at least 2 appropriate visual methods
(histograms, box plots, stem-leaf graph, dot plots, etc). Remember
to include the main title for each graph, and axis
title.
Identify the shape of the distribution (skewed left,
skewed right, bell-shaped, uniform, etc)
Construct Confidence Interval using t and z
distributions (Optional)
Find the margin of Error with 95% confidence using t and
z distribution
Construct Confidence Interval with 95% confidence using
t and z distribution
