(b) Consider a cubical furnace with a side length of 3 m as shown in Figure Q. 4(b). The top (surface 1) is maintained at 700 K. The base (surface 2) has an emissivity of 0.90 and is maintained at 950 K. The side (surface 3) is black and is maintained at 450 K. Heat is supplied from the base surface at a rate of 340 kW.
