1. Based on the analysis of heat transfer in thermal storage between a heat transfer fluid and solid material (rocks), please find the rock temperature varying with time (from 0-4 hours) at the inlet (2-0) of a thermal storage tank for the following two cases. (1) For a heat charge process that fluid of Ty=395 °C flows into the tank (from z=0), which has initial temperature of T1 =310 °C (at t=0). Please show the solid material temperature Is (z=0) at time points of 0.5h, 1h, 2h, 3h, 4h. (2) For a thermal discharge process that cold fluid T1=310 °C flows into a tank (from z=0), which has initial temperature of 395 °C (at t=0). Please show the solid material temperature To (z=0) at time point of 0.5h, 1h, 2h, 3h, 4h. The tank dimensions and all properties of fluids are shown in the following table. The dimensionless governing equation for the solid/rock temperature is Take the reference temperatures Ty=395 °C and T=310 °C. For the thermal storage system with all the given data in problem 1, please find the fluid and solid temperatures (C) at a time of t=0.1 and locations ze=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, 1.0 for the heat charging (from z-0) case. The thermal storage tank is initially fully cold. Hot fluid flows into the tank from z=0.
