Fundamentals of Heat & Mass Transfer
Please answer completely
Problem 03: Steam is flowing through tubes with outer diameter D= 3 cm. The outer surface temperature of tubes is constant To = 120 °C. Annualr fins (t = 2 mm) made of aluminum (k = 180 W.m-1.K-1) have been attached to the outer surface of the tube (D2 = 6 cm). The distance between two fins is S = 3 mm and therefore there is a total of 200 fins per one meter of tube. The atmospheric air conditions are Too = 30 °C and h = 60 W.m-2.K-1 CCC. 1) Calculate the effectiveness of fins. 2) Calculate the efficiency of a single fin. 3) Calculate the overall surface efficiency. 4) Find the total heat transfer rate from one meter length of a tube for two cases: 1) without fins array, 2) with fins array.
