A large flat stone is resting on ice and a view from above is shown in the figure. The centre of mass is at G. The stone has a mass 10 kg and a Moment of Inertia about the centre of mass of Io = 1.8 kg m?. A force FA = 3 N is applied in the x-direction at A, a force Fy = 4 N is applied at an angle 37° to the horizontal at B (see Figure), and a moment of M = 4 Nm is applied about G. A and B are a distance r = 60 cm from G in the directions shown. a. Determine the x and y components of F, and hence determine the moment of this force about G. N. Fny = N. Me = Nm. Give your answers to 4 significant figures. (1 mark) b. Calculate the sum of the forces in the x-direction and hence determine the acceleration of the stone in the c-direction, a. Forces in the x direction = N. Qy = m/s? Give your answers to 4 significant figures. (1 mark) C. Calculate the sum of the forces in the y-direction and hence determine the acceleration of the stone in the y-direction, a,. Forces in the y direction = N. m/s2 Give your answers to 4 significant figures. (1 mark) d. Calculate the sum of the moments about G, and hence determine the angular acceleration of the stone, a Moments about G = Nm. x = rad/s? Give your answers to 4 significant figures. (1 mark) ken L.
