A gas turbine operating a simple Brayton cycle operates between
lower and upper temperatures of 303K and 1400K respectively. The
pressure ratio of the cycle is 9 and both the compressor and
turbine have isentropic efficiencies of 0.85. Using the cold air
standard, determine the following:
a) The temperature at the end of the compression process and
expansion processes
b) The amount of heat energy input required per kg of
air
c) The maximum possible thermal efficiency of the cycle
d) The thermal efficiency of the actual cycle
e) The mass flow rate required to achieve a net power output of
5.5 MW
