In America, we are experiencing a major deficiency in
the number of primary care providers that exist to care for
patients. Many medical students are choosing to become specialty
providers for reasons such as higher pay, better working hours, and
increased control over the types of illnesses/injuries they treat
each day. This need for more primary care providers is leaving many
people without a good option for the basic kinds of care that they
need to stay or get healthy.
In your opinion, what can we do to fix this problem? How might
we go about encouraging medical students to consider going into
primary practice?
