Assignment #2: Globalization Research Paper
ASSIGNMENT #2: GLOBALIZATION RESEARCH PAPER
This assignment is to be submitted electronically via
‘Assignments’ on Blackboard, and will be automatically
screened for academic integrity using
SafeAssign. SafeAssign is a plagiarism
prevention tool that allows me to check the originality of your
written work. The software automatically conducts the check by
comparing your assignment against a database of other assignment
submissions.
Assignment #2 is worth
14% of your final grade,
and it is the final written assignment of the semester. Give it all
you got! In the first written assignment, you
explored the notion of cultural globalization. Assignment
#2 invites you to
investigate either the economic dimension of
globalization or the political
dimension of globalization.
THE TOPICS
You may choose ONE of the following
topics:
FOCUS OF EVALUATION
After you have selected your topic, you can begin your research
and finally write your paper. As you do so, please pay close
attention to the following critical instructions:
IN-TEXT CITATION:
(Last Name, Year of Publication, Page Number)
END-OF-TEXT CITATION (BOOK):
Author's Last Name, First Name as Initial.
(Year Published). Book Title. Location of
Publisher: Publisher. URL.
END-OF-TEXT CITATION (JOURNAL ARTICLE):
Author’s Last Name, First Name as Initial. (Year
Published). “Journal Article Title.” Journal
Name, Volume Number(Issue Number), Starting Page
Number–Ending Page Number. URL.
For example, you must use APA in-text citations in the essay for
any idea or direct quote that you use that is not your own. If you
find an interesting idea and put it in your own words, you must
still provide an in-text citation for it. Further, this is
an individual assignment. It is not a group
assignment. No two essays should resemble one another in
whole or in part. Failure to properly write in your own voice
also increases the chances of overlap with other student
submissions, particular if a same source is used by more than one
individual. See the following Humber Libraries
site for guidance about how to properly reference direct
quotes and paraphrased material:
http://library.humber.ca/APA-MLA
Please note that failure to properly reference
constitutes plagiarism and will result in an automatic grade of
zero. Students who commit this serious
academic offence will
be reported to the college for academic
misconduct.
REQUIRED COURSE READINGS AND RESEARCH
Your essay and thesis should be informed by
the required course
readings and additional independent
research. The required course readings for
this assignment can be found in
your Globalization text
by Steger:

OR

once you have found your four outside sources via Humber Libraries
