Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act, it is unlawful to
harass or feed any marine mammal. California Sea Lions'
populations exploded after the passing of this law and they began
to overtake many ports. One boat owner tried to "shoo" a
sea lion off his boat and was caught by overzealous zealot on
camera, tried, convicted, and jailed. Another boat owner tried to
lure a sea lion off his craft with a fish with the same result.
Theoretically, with no fear of harm, the sea lions will eventually
overtake the port of Los Angeles and effectively shut down 20% of
the nation's imports. What is the solution to this? How? Why?
