The propagation of uncertainty formula for the equation y=mx+b is (Δym)2+(Δyx)2+(Δyb)2 where Δym=(mx+b)−((m+δm)x+b).Δyx=(mx+b)−(m(x+δx)+b) and Δyb=(mx+b)−(mx+(b+δb)). The values δm,δx and δb are the uncertainties on m,x and b respectively. If m=−2.3+/−0.6,x=0.1+/−0.3 and b=−2.5+/−0.3 then what is the uncertainty on y?
