A butyl rubber bag of total volume 3m^3 is used as a biomass digester. Each day it is fed an input pf 0.2m^3 of slurry of which 4kg is volatile solids and a corresponding volume of digested slurry is removed.
The reaction rate in the digester can be nearly doubled by raising the temperature of the slurry from 28 to 35°C
