Letter to a New
Student
All achievements begin as ideas. Between the idea and the
achievement, there will be lots of hard work. You will
experience both successes and challenges along the way. Once you
arrive at your final destination, it will be time to celebrate!
Today you will write a letter to a new student, which will serve as
both a reminder of your commitment and a celebration of your
success. Now imagine that you have graduated from IU, and that you
have accepted a position in your future career. Write a
three-paragraph letter which fulfills the three requirements
below.

Dear IU Student,

Let me introduce myself. My name is [type here] and I am
about to complete my [type here] diploma/degree. I started my
journey at IU because [type here]. I stayed motivated against
the odds so I could [type here].
I accomplished so much throughout my
journey. One of my greatest challenges during my time at
IU was [type here]. I realized how strong I actually am,
because I was able to [type here]. I finally overcame this
challenge by [type here] and now I am [type here] .
Overcoming the challenge taught me [type here].
I want you to realize you are also
able to persevere and accomplish your goals. Now it is time
for you to begin a new path in your life. You are going to do a
fantastic job as a IU student as long as you remember this:
