Purpose: To develop skills in locating quality educational
materials for a specific disease state at the primary and secondary
prevention levels. To be able to determine how best to utilize
those materials in practice.
Instructions: 1. Find 2 primary prevention educational materials
that discuss ways to prevent a disease of your choice. 2. Find 1
secondary prevention educational material that discusses ways to
adhere to treatment strategies, prevent reoccurrence of the
disease, and/or prevent co- morbidities of the disease. 3. Write a
reflection discussing the following elements: a. How would you
utilize each handout in a healthcare practice? b. What are the key
points of each handout that should be stressed to the patient? c.
Would you recommend this be reviewed together or just given to the
patient to read on their own? Why did you choose the option you
choose? *Note: Make sure to safe each material with either _primary
