Consider a long magnetic cylinder of radius a. Imagine that we have set up a perma- nent magnetization inside, M = Mź with k = constant (This could be a very long ferromagnetic bar magnet, for instance). The magnetization is of course zero outside the cylinder. Neglect end effects, i.e., assume the cylinder is infinitely long. (a) (2 points) Calculate the bound currents Ko and 1(on the surface, and interior of the cylinder respectively). (b) (2 points) Use the bound currents from (a) to find the magnetic field B inside and outside the cylinder (direction and magnitude). (c) (2 points) Find the H field inside and outside the cylinder, and verify that the integral form of Ampére's equation works (Griffiths p. 280).
