Q.1 Refer to the information (Figure 1, Table 1), i. Transfer table of linear actuator is driven by 2 DC motors. One of the motors is used to control the rightward movement, and the other motor is for controlling the leftward movement. Transfer table is loaded with materials at Position A. After a time period of 15s, material loading is completed. Transfer table then moves to left and reach Position B. Materials on transfer table is unloaded. After an unloading period of 10s, the empty transfer table move to right and back to Position A for loading of materials again. In this way, the transfer table moves in a reciprocating manner automatically between Position A and Position B. A red light is on when the transfer table is moving right. A green light is on when it is moving to left. The rightward and leftward moves of transfer table can be started by separate push buttons manually. A. Draw the NAIS FP-O PLC I/O wiring diagram. (8%) B. Design and write a NAIS PLC program to meet the above requirement. (22%) The transfer table driving mechanism is re-designed. The DC motors are now replaced by a stepping motor. The goal is to increase the positional accuracy of transfer table. The distance between Position A and Position B must be kept to 220mm accurately. The pitch of the lead screw for driving the transfer table is 2mm. By referring to the motor specification data sheet posted on Moodle, determine the following parameters. A. Number of pulses required to drive the stepping motor in full-step mode when the transfer table moves rightward from Position Ato Position B. (3%) B. The frequency of the driving pulses if a table speed of 65mm/s is needed. (3%) C. The smallest positional increment of the transfer table in mm which can be commanded by the motion control driver of the PLC in half-step driving mode. (2%) D. Briefly describe how you can increase the smallest positional increment of the transfer table if additional hardware and/or configuration is allowed to be setup in the system (2%) ii.
