Fungi play a very important role in an ecosystem. What do you predict would be the most likely outcome if all the fungi were somehow removed from a certain area? The amount of oxygen in the atmosphere would be reduced. Nutrient recycling would be reduced because there would be less decomposition. The number of dead animals in the area would decrease because other things would decompose them. Competition for small mammals would increase because there would be nothing to eat them.
