The hydrolysis of methyl ethanoatein the presence of hydrochloric acid at a constant temperature produces ethanoic acid and methanol. The results obtained were shown in Table 2below : Table 2 . Hydrolysis of methyl ethanoate in the presence of HCl. (i) By using a graphical method, show that the reaction is first order with respect to methyl ethanoate. (ii) State ONE (1) reason for maintaining the reaction mixture at a constant temperature. (3+1 marks )
