Two small spheres of mass m are charged and they each hang from a massless string of length L. They are in equilibrium in the positions shown in the diagram. A. Draw free body diagrams for each mass with qualitatively correct vector lengths. B. Do the two charges have the same sign of charge or do they have opposite charges? Explain your reasoning. C. Do the two charges have the same magnitude of charge, different magnitudes of charge or are you not sure? Explain your reasoning. You should have reached the conclusion in part C that you are not sure whether the charges are the same magnitude or not. If you reached a different conclusion, please go back to that question. D. Use Newton's 2 nd Law to determine the product of the two charges. In other words, determine ∣Q1Q2∣. You will certainly have to analyze the forces in the horizontal and vertical directions and combine the results.
